Online FM17 rules

In progress

If you've never played online FM at gocland then read this article, please.

Notice that these rules can differ in countries. Admins of every country has the right to use unique rules for their tournaments.

Fundamental concepts

You can play online versus matches only with a purchased game!
See how to create online versus matches with FM16.

Match: Match is two-leg fixture in Online Versus Head-to-Head League game (one leg at "home ground" and one other leg at "away"), where the scores of both legs are added together (so the initial result is determined by the aggregate score).
Pots: Group of teams according to its strength. Participants are allowed to play only with teams from the same pot. Click here to see the pots.

General rules

These rules are valid for all tournaments! For ladders, for leagues, and for cups too.

1: Result

- Match result always has to be accepted, if the participants played the match. If there is a problem at any match that participants can not solve between eachother, then it is possible to create new protest.
- The result and the match are valid only if one of the participants upload a screenshot about the match.

2: Screenshots

- The result and the match are valid only if one of the participants upload a screenshot about the match.
- Both participants have to create a screenshot about the match BUT IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARTICIPANT WHO CREATED THE GAME!! If the screenshot is missing from a match page and it is unproven that it was the joined participant's fault, then the game creator is the responsible.
- How to create and upload screenshots?

3: Deadlines

- Conversation deadline:

  • You need to start to talk about the match date after your match was generated. This is the Conversation deadline. For example:
    • your match was generated on 01/12/2015
    • conversation deadline is 03/12/2015 22:00 GMT
    • match deadline is 07/12/2015 22:00 GMT (1 week deadline)
  • If Player1 tried to contact (sent Private Message to his opponent on GOCLand and added her/him as friend on Steam) but Player2 didn't answer until the Conversation deadline, then Player1 can open a protest until 48 hours BEFORE the Match deadline (before 05/12/2015 22:00 GMT in the case of the example above). The tournament organizer will
    • give 1 more day to Player2 to answer to the protest.
  • If Player2 misses to answer to the protest in this 1 added day then tournament organizers will give the match to Player1 with defwin (walkover), and give 1 Penalty Point to Player2. Total points will be reduced with Penalty Points in Round-robin (league) tournaments and in Group stage of a tournament. Player will be eliminated from the tournament after 2 penalty points..
  • No show: If you and your opponent agreed in a time to play (for example: Tuesday 20:00 GMT), but your opponent does not show after 15 minutes (Tuesday 20:15 GMT in this example) then you can open a protest.
    • Tournament organizers will make their decision:
      1. They will warn your opponent about the protest and they will give 1 day to reply to this message.
      2. According to the information they can decide to give 1 Penalty Point to your opponent and to her/his Team (in Clan/Team tournaments). Total points will be reduced with Penalty Points in Round-robin (league) tournaments, in Group stage of a tournament, and in Team (Clan) Matches. Player will be eliminated from the tournament after 2 penalty points.
      3. According to the information they can decide to enter a 3:0 default win (walkover) against your opponent (3:0, 3:0 in Team-matches).

- Match deadline: you need to play your matches before the Match deadline.

4: Connection

If the game is aborted, due to connection problems of one of the players, then you need to tell it to your opponent immediately. You are not allowed to tell the connection problem after the final whistle! Simply because it's not fair, and because there were some players who frequently used this when they wanted to play a match again...

This game must be resumed if you telled the connection problem to your opponent as soon as possible, playing only the minutes that last to the 90 minutes.

The same player need to create the game, so if PlayerA created the game and PlayerB joined, then PlayerA need to create the game again.

For example: A game was aborted in the 64th minutes and the score was 2-1. Participants must play 26 minutes plus 3 minutes extra time (so 29 minutes) at the same ground, and if the score is 1-1 then they must add it to the 2-1 score, so the final result will be 3-2.

If a player is sent off while the game is running, and there is a game disconnection, the team that had the player coming out must place the Reserves team keeper playing on his place + must place another Reserves team keeper playing on another first team player. The Reserves team keepers need to be selected by the opponent participant of the disconnected participant. The second first team player need to be selected by the disconnected participant.

It is not allowed to substitute these two Reserves team keepers even if they have yellow injury. They must be replaced with a keeper if they have red injury, so it is needed to add two keepers for substitutions.

Penalty points for connection error:

If the game is aborted, due to connection problems of one of the players, and the other player creates protest then the admin will examine the situation.

  • The admin can give 1 Penalty point for the disconnected player or his Team. Total points will be reduced by the Penalty points in a Round-robin (league) tournament and in the Group-stage of turnaments.
  • If a player gets 2 Penalty points on the same tournament then this player will be disqualified from the tournament.

5: Protest

Your opponent do not show or do not answer to you? It is possible to open a new protest. The Admin Team will give 1 day to your opponent to answer your protest. Read more about protest.

6: Teams

It is not allowed to import your team, so you have to play with the original squad!
You and your opponent can not play with the same team, so you have to agree with your opponent about the teams. Choose your team from a pot. FM16 pots are under development.
You have to give your team order to each other from the same pot at the same time (after countdown or something like that). For example:

  • Your list: Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City
  • Your opponent list: Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Manchester City

The first difference between you and your opponent list is at the third team, so you will play with Barcelona, and you your opponent will play with Bayern Munich.
Here is an example conversation between two imagined participants.

7: Match Pause Limit

Players are able to pause the match for maximum 5 minutes, and they need to write to their opponent about it. So if somebody need to go away from keyboard then he/she need to write that "afk - I pause the game for some minutes". If this player won't continue the match in 5 minutes then the other player can create protest. The Admin Team will examine the situation, and

  • they can give 1 Penalty point to the match pausing player
  • they can give the match to the other player (defwin/walkover)

Don't need to write to the other player if you paused the game just to modify your tactic, but you need to continue it in 5 minutes.

8: Ban

Penalty points won't reduce to zero through a season.

  • The Admin Team will ban the player for 14 days if she/he gets 3 Penalty points.
  • The Admin Team will ban the player for 30 days if she/he gets 4 Penalty points.
  • The Admin Team will ban the player for 90 days if she/he gets 5 Penalty points.
  • The Admin Team will ban the player until the end of the season if she/he gets 6 Penalty points.

The player will lose each of her/his matches with defwin and her/his Sing up to a new tournament will be rejected while she/he is banned.

A) LADDER

1: What is the ladder

http://gocland.com/eu/news/what-ladder-how-can-i-play-ladders

2: Challenge

- ALWAYS write to your opponent BEFORE challenge her/him (Dedicated Facebook group or GOCLand Chat).
- A challenge can be deleted by admins only if there wasn't agreement betweet participants. It is necessary to play the match in all other cases.

3: Usage of pots

- It is not mandatory to use pots. Pots are only help to participants to choose teams but they can differ from it.

B) GROUP STAGES of tournaments and LEAGUES (Round-Robin tournaments)

1: Ranking

- Player with most points will be the winner.

- If two players have the same points then these will decide:

  • Goal difference
  • More scores
  • More wins
  • More draws
  • Random

2: Usage of pots

- Usage of pots are mandatory!
- May be different in specific tournaments but we will write about it on the tournament page.

3: Penalities

a) Missing screenshot
- 2 points will be deducted from total points of participant who created the game, 1 point will be deducted from total points of participant who joined to the game.
b) Matches without result and/or protest (after its deadline)
- the Admin Team will close the match with 0-0 result.
- 2 points will be deducted from total points of both participants.
- the Admin Team will give 1 Penalty Point to both players.
c) It is possible to create new protest. Admins will handle this situation personally.

C) KNOCKOUT PHASE of tournaments (Cup)

1: Transaction

- Single elimination cup.
- Keep the deadlines! If your opponent don't answer, then create a new protest.
- Away goal counts, so if the aggregated score of two legs are the same then that participant win who scored more goals away. In this case result will be 1 goal more to the winner (e.g. 2-0 and 1-3 => 4-3).
- The result of one match (see Fundamental concepts -> Match) decides. Away goals count but if each participant has scored the same number of away goals, then they must play a new match in a new game with the same teams. So this second match decides. If the same happens in the second match again, then participants must play a third match, and so on, until somebody wins. Screenshot needed only from the last match, and participants must enter the result of the last match.

2: Usage of pots

- Usage of pots are mandatory!
- May be different in specific tournaments but we will write about it on the tournament page.

3: Penalities

a) Missing screenshot
- The participant who created the server will eliminated from the cup!
b) Matches without result and/or protest (after its deadline)
- Random winner.
- the Admin Team will give 1 Penalty Point to both players.
c) It is possible to create new protest. Admins will handle this situation personally.

C) LiveCup specific Rules

1: Deadlines

You need to play all of your matches right after you see your opponent in the tournament tree! You need to write a private message on Steam to your opponent in 5 minutes! If your opponent don't answer to your messages on Steam in 5 minutes, then you need write a private message to the tournament admin on Steam! Each participant player need to enter our Steam chatroom!

2: Match

Match is one-leg fixture in Online Versus Knockout Cup game with extra-time and penalities. Each Match played seperately from each other, so there won't be one LiveCup Game to where you need to join. You need to create a new game for each of your matches. This way we don't need to restart the tournament from the beginning if one participant player has connection problem. Check the game mode before the match if the game was created by your opponent!

3: Leaderboard points

Players will get points in LiveCup Tournaments, which will be display on the LiveCup Leaderboard, and they will be seeded by their rank in each tournament - except the first tournament, of course.

  • winning a match (or go to the next round without match /BYE/): 10 points
  • winning a match in the Semi-Finals and in the Final: 15 points

4: Chat Room

Enter the Chatroom of our Steam Group 10 minutes before the tournament start!

  • If you won't enter the Chatroom 5 minutes before the start of the LiveCup and there is a player in the waiting list, then that player will play in the tournament instead of you.
  • If you are not able to enter to the chat room then you need to write a Private Message (on Steam and/or on GOCLand) to the tournament admin!
  • If you are not able to add new friend on Steam then you need to write a Private Message (on Steam and/or on GOCLand) to the tournament admin!

What happens if there will not be exactly 16, 32 or 64 participants in a knockout tournament?

If e.g. more than 8 but less than 16 players registered onto the tournament – let’s say 10 – then there will be 4 participants who will play in the first round and 6 participants will goes to the next round without match. We sign these 6 participants as BYE.

How can participants arrange the results of the matches between each other?

One of the match participants can enter the score in an online form after the match, and the other participant need to accept it. If the first participant entered a wrong score, then the other participant can modify it.

How to find your opponent?

See the profile of your opponent, and look for the Steam profile box. Here you can see how to set up your Steam ID.

You have to contact your opponent and find a day to play your match. You can write a Private Message at gocland.com to each other. See Messages in the right sidebar, or the "Send message" link at the user Profile page (below the user's image). She/he will get an email message too, so she/he will see it even if not logged in the website. Here is an article about how to add your opponent on Steam.

How to create and upload screenshots?

After the match you need to create a screenshot in the game results page and upload it to the website. Here is an article about how to create and upload screenshots.

Admins keep the right of modification of the rules!
